Home-cooked taste - Good value
Decided to give this place a try for dinner after reading two good reviews about it. I have to concur for the most part - the food is very good; it has a home-cooked taste (I'm of Indian origin, for whatever it's worth) that not many Indian restaurants are able to reproduce. I tried the buffet, since it was my first time, to sample a wide range of their offerings. I found the 'pakoras' (vegetable fritters) to be not-so-fresh. It seemed like they might have overstayed their welcome on the buffet table. Most likely, they were made early that day and made an appearance on the lunch buffet as well (my hypothesis, not confirmed :-) Since they were not on a warming plate, they lacked the fresh taste. Apart from that, the rest of the dishes, especially the Tandoori Chicken, were very good. The service was attentive and earnest. Of the desserts, the Gulab Jamun (Indian doughnuts in sugar syrup) was a sure hit, while a coconut souffle and the coconut-based burfi (milk-based sweet), less so. All said and done, I would visit this place again for its home-cooked taste, attentive service and excellent value, but would probably stick to the a la carte menu to ensure freshness. Recommended.
