Out of a total of forty perfumeries, the Galimard perfumery (about 3km from Grasse) is just one of three that is open to the public. If you've ever wondered how a perfume is created, what the difference between eau de toilette and cologne is, then this is the place to come to! The guided tour (available in English and German) is free and the perfumery has its own well-stocked boutique.
I was excited at the idea of going to the perfumery. On hindsight I wished I had stayed longer, as I would have returned all 4 bottles After buying four bottles of Eau Parfum, which was highly recommended, I was dissappointed that the smell did not last at all. In fact some of the Eau Toilet that I buy of the counter lasted longer than the ones bought in Parfumerie Galimard!!!
Beware of this place. After the hard sell about how better the eau de parfum is than the eau de toilette they give you an eau de parfum for which the scent lasts barely half an hour. Steer lear of these chancers.
