Iso Vasikkasaari Island (Iso Vasikkasaari), Espoo

The name of this island means Big Calf Island in Finnish. It is one of the most popular islands in the Espoo archipelago, an ideal place for a nice long walk or a picnic on a summer's day. The beautiful scenery, easy terrain, peaceful atmosphere and open lawns here are perfect settings for relaxation. There are two beaches, so you can have a swim if walking makes you sweat. Iso Vasikkasaari is especially popular with families. If you have children, this is the ideal place for youthe beaches and open areas are quite safe. There is regular boat traffic to the mainland, so you do not need your own boat. The island also has lovely restaurant called Gula Villana and a small cafe that operates out of a charming old cottage, where you can buy snacks and refreshments. Many people bring their own picnic basket full of goodies; if you bring your own lunch, you can heat or barbecue it at one of the cooking spots. The island also has a drinking-wate! r well during the summer, and toilets for your convenience.
