David Burke Townhouse
David Burke Townhouse is the masterpiece of Award-winning Executive Chef David Burke, whose reputation for wildly creative takes on American ingredients is unsurpassed. Since 2003, David Burke has been serving provocative Modern American Cuisine in an elegantly refurbished Upper East Side space. The restaurant's design is inspired by the bold colors and lacquered surfaces on the 1930's, yet it has decidedly contemporary aesthetic. Upon entering David Burke Townhouse, guests will feel the glamour and sense of fun in the lounge with its sleek white gloss, stone bar and whimsical art installations. The volume of color and drama is turned up for the main event, the dining room, where a striking color palette of chocolate, vanilla and lipstick colors prevails.
If you don't mind lots of noise and poor service, this place has greeat food. But, at this price, unless you want the loud scene, why settle? There are so many better places with food as good or better for this money. Try Aureole or Aix.
My office team got a chance to go to DavidBurke and Donatella earlier this year. It was my first visit to this restaurant, and I know its definately not going to be my last.
The restaurant is pretty small compared to the swarms of people cramped up in that night ( I guess we just went when it was really busy!!); but that did not deter from the restaurant's colorful decor and welcoming ambience.
We had made reservations, so our table was ready when we got there :-). The restaurant boasts alot of bold and vibrant color, with white and rich red being its chief colors. The thing I loved the most about the place was its lighting. It is a very brightly lite restaurant, so don't expect to retreat into some dimly-lit-place ( because there IS NONE!!)
The bar area was crowded! As a none drinker, I can attest that whatever is being sold at the bar, is definately working as its impossible to find an empty seat on the table.
The food was excellent. David Burke (chief and co-owner) himself loves to come around and mingle with his guests (How beautiful!!)! I am truly a dessert person, so I couldnt wait to sink my teeth into the dessert menu. BE FOR-WARNED..the desserts are both colorful and rich in flavor...you will be a believer...
In all, I really loved that place...it is the perfect blend of true modern cuisine with a pinch of some sort of light-heartedness happiness..
The service was poor and there was no air condition in the back room due to a brown out. What a coincidence I live a blockl down the street with perfect lighting. I hear this has taken place for a week. Overall great food and exceptional ambiance.
