Mongolian Barbeque

Description

This was the first Mongolian restaurant in Scandinavia, located near the Town Hall Square. The restaurant's speciality (and only choice) is a buffet with a selection of Mongolian specialities. This special food was, according to the restaurant, served exclusively for Genghis Khan, his soldiers and the Royal Family. That was 800 years ago; later the dishes became available for everyone else.

A meal worth remember
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/31/07
I came to Denmark to meet a few business associates. We were supposed to eat at Copenhagen Corner on this rainy day. However it turned out that they did not have room for us even though we had reserved a table so 4 men with suits wandered around looking for a restaurant where we could eat and we stumbled upon Mongolian Barbecue. Although when we got there it was all full the friendly waitress did her best in assisting us and clearing a table for us. In a matter of minutes we were already seated and it turned out that the waitress was absolutely marvelous. We had no idea what to get since none of us had tried Mongolian before so we went for the buffet recommended by the waitress. The buffet is for a pretty reasonable 128 DKK (15$). You could choose between 4-5 diffrent kinds of meat and alot of different vegetables. Then a waiter helped me and introduced me to 20 different kinds of seasonnings and sauce in which you probably could make a milion different mixes of. But he managed to do a fantastic mix from his recommandation. After he seasons it with his sauces he passes it by to the chef where he fries it for you. Only takes a few minutes. You can by the way do this as many times as you can. To our meal we were served a fantastic carlsberg dark beer recommended by our waiter and later a wine, also recommended, from chile that just turned out to be perfect with the barbecue. by the end of the night when we had been there for more than a couple of hours we all agreed to that it was not what we expected but just simply fantastic. Service and food were just amazing. If you ever come by Denmark then it is definetly worth the visit.

Great change of pace and experience
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/3/07
This Copenhagen restaurant was the first Mongolian experience for me. What a great place. Food was tremendous, not to mention it all went down very well with a tall beer. The atmosphere was also something special, but it only fits in with this wonderful city. Highly recommended eating establishment.

Lots of good food at a good price
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/26/06
The first time I ever tried a Mongolian BBQ was in Copenhagen. On a very cold New Year's Eve I took my family into this cozy little place having no idea what to expect. We had become a bit bored with the Chinses buffets back home in the States and we were thinking this might be the same. How wrong we were!!! At the Mongolian BBQ we designed our own dinners choosing from 4-5 different types of meat and dozens of vegetables which we piled on to our plates. Not really knowing what to do, the wait staff directed us to a table of sauces to top off our concoctions. Then we took the cold meat and veggies to the chef how proceeded to cook for us on top of huge convex-shaped grills. Absolutely delicious. Topped off with a couple Carlsbergs and a fireworks display just outside, it was one of my most memorable New Year's Eves ever.

Absolutely terrible experience
By FortLeeResident, 9/17/06
We went to this restaurant with our 2 yr old and the least price is 75kr (~US$15) for him to eat. For a 2 yr old who can't eat much, well I guess we can deal with that. When we asked for a bowl of rice since that's pretty much all he's eating, we're told it's going to cost extra. My gosh, already the kid's not going to eat much and they wanted extra for a bowl of rice??? I asked to speak with the manager and we're told no manager present, just waiters. On top of that the waiter just kept insisting that it's the principle...??? By golly, 2 adults paying 128kr (~US$25) each and you can't throw in a bowl of rice for the kid or even be flexible when we're alreasy wilign to pay??? Definitely not recommended if you have young kids.
