Jagr's Sports Bar

Description

Owned by the larger-than-life Czech hockey player Jaromir Jagr, this huge sports bar looks like something out of Gotham City and the City of Hundred Spires. After taking the brightly lit stairwell down, the circular, high-ceilinged space unfolds with well over 50 TV sets showing various sports from around the globe. Team memorabilia from various sports lines the wall and there are also authentic Jagr jerseys displayed behind glass. Attracting mostly a male contingent, the bar serves a straightforward, average menu of Czech cuisine alongside well-poured, cold brews. Usually packed, this place is a favorite of local sports fans.

Good bar, good location
By valmontno, 4/9/08
Right on Wenceslaus Square, this makes a nice stop for a beer after some heavy sightseeing. If you like Jaromir Jagr, the upper floor contains his uniforms from various hockey teams he has played for. It's like a mini museum. The service is good and the beer is reasonable; I was disappointed that Pilsner Urquell was not served as I had developed a taste for it during my time in Prague...had to settle for a Budwiser!! Families are welcome and the two-tiered eating/drinking area accommodates a lot of hungry and thirsty people. A welcome respite; I'd recommend everyone drop in for a brew, at least.

Worth visiting
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/8/06
The service was excellent, the staff took care of our 1,5-year-old son very well. The place wasn't very crowded when we were there, but the video-screens still created a good atmosphere. The prices on the menu were surprisingly low, but as we got the bill, the total was more than we expected (eg. ketchup etc. cost 20 kr/person...).

it is not as cheap as the most café's but it is still less than a dollar for 0.5 litre of beer, the're is a great atmosphere, they have 4 bigscreens hanging in the middle room like in a icehockey stadium, and about 25 normal tv's around the room with all kinds off sports.
