Cerneho Vola (U)
Tourists and locals alike rub shoulders (often literally!) at this boistrous, old-fashioned pub known far and wide for its excellent Velkopopvicky Kozel beer and the brusque, black-aproned waiters who scowl if you don't drink more than one. Located in the heart of the Castle district and near the famous Loreto Church, U Cernoho Lva (or "The Black Bull") is not the place to come if you are averse to smoky air and alcohol. But if an authentic, beery atmosphere is what you seek, and you don't want to travel far for it, then by all means grab this bull by the horn.
This is cult place in Prague, which each detail is still in old, good czech fashion, connecting style from barock times of XVIII century, fine siecle and before II world war atmosphere and socilism time too. You feel there still noncommercial socialism mentality. Prices and service are still almost like 20 years ago.
During my visit at Prague I enjoyed this pub most of all! This has got a really traditional atmosphere. This pub is visited by locals 90% so that's the place you can have impressions about the czech beer-drinking lifestyle :-) The dark Kozel is pretty good and cheap (26.5 CZK at Jan.2008).
