David Restaurant, Prague

Very good food, but lacked the WOW factor for great. What makes this place so good is the atmosphere and the location. Expensive for what was received. I ordered the Czech menu and my colleague ordered the lamb chops. We both had the potato soup and desert was the highlight. We both had the Czech pancake. Think donuts with jam under and powdered sugar on top with whipping cream on the side. Yummy. Cover charge, while not expensive was a surprise.

Just wonderful even when dining alone. The argentine fillet mignon with goose liver and truffle sauce was to die for! Outdoor eating and wonderful classical music in the background - a late summer evening not likely to be forgotten.

Ate at this place last year and it was woderfil. Decided to go back a few days ago, and the experience was equally good if not better. I had the gourmet menu which was fabulous with a very nice house Czech red wine. I think the patio seating is very nice if the weather is pleasant. Highly recommended.

A few months ago I started to look on the internet for a restaurant in Prague. My needs were specific. I was traveling from Canada to a medical conference and wanted a place to host a dinner for approximately 25 people. I found this jewel called Restaurant David. From every conceivable aspect, this restuarant is exceptional. The meal started with home made hot croissants and it just got better and better from there. Their salad with smoked salmon was amazing as was my venison entree. I also tried the sea bass which was cooked as perfectly as anything else I tried at this great location. If you have a sweet tooth you must try their pancakes for dessert. From the first inquiry over the internet to the time that I did a site inspection upon my arrival, to the magical dinner that my quests and I had...this place is top knotch. The food is a blend of Czeck and International so there is something for everyone. The venue is lovely and you feel like you are in someones home. You immedicately notice the china and crystal. I can only rave about everything. Thank you so much for a wonderful, delicious and attentive evening. To add to the pleasure is a cost that is reasonable with the quality being exceptional. A must visit for visitors to Prague. Please note that there are a few David restaurants in Prague and this one is across the river just below the Prague Castle. If you are taking a taxi, tell them it is near the US embassy. If you are walking, make sure you have directions as the small and winding streets can be confusion. If you go there say hi to Libor and Lubimor for me. They will delight you with their restaurant.

My husband and I found David as we were walking around...it is off the beaten path...and we were delighted with the food, waiter, and overall ambiance. We went for a late lunch, and we were the only people in there, so the waiter was very attentive. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wanted an upscale, but not uptight experience.

David's was amazing. As we traveled around Europe, this was the best overall dining experience we had. The staff was very friendly, and even though we were a little late, and they had a full house, they found a table for us. The food was wonderful, the staff was very friendly, and it was a relaxed and cozy atmosphere. Truely a gem in Prague. It was MUCH better than the Allegro Restaurant at the Four Seasons, and it was half the price. Dining in Europe can be pricey, but this place was one that was actually worth the price. They didn't overcharge us, and made us feel at home. It's SO nice to run into some friendly people when traveling abroad, especially in Prague. After a day of shopping in stores where a smile from someone is rare - it was especially nice to be treated politely when you sit down to dinner. Thank you Restaurant David. Tucked back on a tiny lane near the embassies, this little place is a gem. Elegant service (the owner may taste your wine for you) and wonderful food in an intimate setting.

David is a fabulous place to go for dinner. It is nestled on a quiet little street above the US Embassy. You can escape the madness of the tourists and enjoy a wonderful meal with great food and exceptional service. The food is of very good quality and there is a lot of skill in the preparation. Wonderful little garden dining area in summer. Highly recommended.

possibly the best restaurant I have ever eaten and at �90 for 4 people it was fantastic!!! you definately want to make a booking - you can do so with your hotel concierge..

The food was delicious, the service excellent. I loved the location and the way we had to ring a bell to get into the restaurant. We gave the waiter a tip at the end of the evening and he rushed after us to thank us - how often does that happen. Learnt a lot about how to serve and present food with class. This a must if you visit Prague.
