Since 1969, the Atelier de Recherche et d'Action Urbaine (Workshop for Urban Action and Research) has led the battle for the preservation of Brussels' architectural treasures which, in the past, have not always been treated with the deserved respect. Many of Victor Horta's gems were torn down over the years for no particular reason. The ARAU people also organize intelligent city tours, by bus or on foot. Themes are: The Other Brussels, Art Nouveau, Art Deco, Europe in Brussels, Grand Place and Les Marolles. Tours are conducted in French.
