Hop on the train and travel a mere 30 minutes east of Brussels and wind up in this enchanting university town. Leuven (Louvain in French) is teeming with interesting places to visit. A five-minute walk from the station sets you in the middle of the Grote Markt where you'll find the architecturally divine Stadhuis (Town Hall) and St Pieterskerk (church). The Museum Vander Kelen-Mertens is a great stop for art-buffs, and the city doesn't lack for great places to dine. Try some of the eateries on Parijsstraat, which runs parallel with the Oude Markt, or visit the upscale restaurant Il Pastaio for a tasty pasta with scampi. Final suggestion—don't forget to visit the Groot Begijnhof or abbey.
