Children not welcome

Popoff's is a place to avoid if you have a child. If you like pretentious bijou then it might be for you.
I was carrying my 3 and a half year old son as we entered and my partner had the empty buggy. Half a second after I'd closed the door and managed to put my son on a chair the waiter (or owner) rushed up and began speaking animatedly in French.
I apologised for not understanding and he then said is English that the child should sit in the buggy. As the cafe is small (even though it was half empty)I thought he was concerned with the space taken up by the buggy so I explained that I would fold it up. Then he repeated that the child would be better in the buggy and I said that he would be OK on the chair at which point he turned on his heels saying 'ok but
no feet on the chair!".
I looked down and saw that one of my young son's legs was folded and his shoe was touching the seat of the chair.
If I had been allowed more time i would have arranged his feet appropriately.
After such an unpleasant greeting we decided to leave and so never tasted the cakes, which may be ok (though look over the top on the white icing).
I think the owner should put a sign on the door saying young children are not welcome.
And for chair lovers, don't worry, there wasn't a mark on it. In fact its shiny white surface was as good as new from IKEA.
