Kuffner Observatorium
Description
The Kuffner Observatory was built by Moriz von Kuffner, the owner of the Ottakringer brewery in 1884-1886, for private research. Franz von Neumann was the name of the designer of the building and the surrounding park. The great heliometer, which still is the largest instrument of this type in the world, was installed in 1896. World economic crisis and war led to a lack of interest in the research institution. In 1987, the City of Vienna bought the observatory and a new era for adult education and research began. After watching the stars, don't miss a look at the wonderful surrounding park.
