This restaurant comes close to absolute perfection; quite predictably, the prices here are not cheap. Guests looking for a real treat once in a while will find the Steirereck a wonderful place with its elegant atmosphere, the flower-filled rooms, the light conservatory and its very imaginative half-Styrian, half-international contemporary cuisine. The chef prepares exquisite food, often combining unusual ingredients to create delicious and aesthetically pleasing dishes.
From the momment you walk in, until the time you walk out, you will be treated to best service you will proabaly ever have in your life in a restaurant. The food is unique and top notch also. As just one example, when we finished our meal, one of us had some tea for after dinner and was given many choices of tea leaves to brew a customized cup of tea to perfection. It's not for the faint of wallet, but worth every Euro. Also, the restaurant has moved to the Stadt Park, a beautiful local. If you have one meal in Vienna, make it here.
I read one of the earlier reviews that said "This could be, perhaps, the most perfect culinary experience I've ever had." I thought that seemed a bit too high praise and must have been written by someone who doesn't get out much, but now I've eaten there I have to agree. The food is amazing, and the service is out of this world. The place is full of nice little touches that put together make such a difference, like the herb tea being served from a trolley of herbs growing in pots, which are freshly snipped from the plants in front of you.
The service really was something very special. It is hard to manage both amazing professionalism and a relaxed friendly atmosphere at the same time, but this place does it in spades.
The food was really excellent, but maybe not quite up to the mind-blowing standards of the service. Please don't think, however, that I would fault it in any way, and it's better than the food in 99% of the restaurants I've eaten in, but to match the standards of the service and ambience I was expecting something really amazing, and although it was almost there, I felt it didn't quite make it.
Oh, I almost forgot: they have the most amazing selection of Austrian wines. We had a Viennese Pinot Noir that would give most grand cru burgundies a run for their money.
Of course a meal like this doesn't come cheap, but the prices are reasonable when you compare it with restaurants in Paris or London of similar quality.
The restaurant itself is beautiful, the food exquisite and the service perfect. This is not a cheap night out but you can manage your spending by choosing from the set five or six course menu so you at least know how much the evening will cost. You get two choices at every course and for an extra lump-sum get a different wine delivered with each course. For a treat this place is well worth the money. Please do not be put off by the fact that this is a top end restaurant; whilst the surroundings are sumptuous and the service impeccable, the staff are in fact very friendly and not at all stuffy as one might expect.
This could be, perhaps, the most perfect culinary experience I've ever had. The service was impeccable, the ambience superb and the food exquisite, both in appearance and taste.
This is now a "must" for every future trip to Vienna. Yes, it is relatively expensive but oh, so worth it........
This small but elegant corner resturant offers the very best Europe has to offer. The conservatory and colors are becoming to any occassion. The Steirereck combines tradtional cuisine from Styria and exotic international cuisines. Service is second to none with basically one server to one guest ratio. Ask to see the wine cellar. Steirereck often takes a traditonal meal and add a touch of magic to create a very special meal. The Steirereck promises to be a night you will remember. You don't quality and service like this without paying for it, be be aware - but they are almost always booked solid. My favorite for more than a decade.
This spacious restaurant is sunk deep in the vast neo Gothic cellars of the Rathaus (town hall). Every room is
furnished in a different style, giving the restaurant its unique style and atmosphere. Although it may not apear so ...
A Chinese restaurant with a distinctive postmodern decor, looking more like the departure lounge of an airport or the canteen
of a space station. But don´t be frightened away, because the Kiang serves very good food!
In 1803, Erzherzog Johann built the Tiroler Haus, which was originally used as a farmhouse. In 1920, the last royal
cow left the building. From 1921 to 1973 it was served as a restaurant known as Tiroler Garten. This ...
