Together with the Müllner Bräustübl and the Stiegl Keller, this is the most popular beer garden in town, especially for those with a penchant for Weißbier (white beer). In the summer months plenty of people drop by for an after-work drink and a bite to eat (goulash with noodles is especially popular). Rain is no object; the indoor bar offers a familiar, collegiate atmosphere. Groups should book in advance, and can even visit the historic "Small Brewery" by prior appointment.
Most folks think that the Augustiner is the place to go, but the beer (wheat beer) here and the ambiance are a thousand times better. In good weather the beer garden is great and when it is rainy (often the case in Salzburg) being inside is good and a lot less noisy than some other places. And there are not too too many tourists.
