Museo de Jade
The main feature of this museum is the collection of jade objects, crafted through different techniques by the native Costa Rican indigenous people. The collection was acquired by the National Institute of Insurance in 1973. The museum also exhibits pottery and metal works from the same time span. The museum offers guided visits in English and Spanish, in which the guides explain the importance, precedence and symbols on the pieces.
Amazing collection for any serious jade, bead, or just history buff. It is now on the ground floor so no view, but the restaraunt across the street is amazing for lunch! As you look out the door of the museo just walk to the left, and across the street. Also Hotel Sant Tomas is footsteps away and very nice. Dont forget to visit the Gold Museo as well, you can walk there in 15 minutes. Take a bead holiday!
