This place was recommended to us by a tour guide and the food was wonderful. Tried the Seafood Mofongo and it was soo good! They also have wonderful baked bread and the service was great! Would recommend this place to anyone going to Jan Juan.

Great Food!!
By ,
We chose Cafe Berlin for lunch before visiting Fort San Cristobal, which is just a trot away, and could not have been more pleased with the food!!!!! Yes it did take a tad bit for the food to come but well worth the wait! We were actually staying in Fajardo and didn't once get a great meal there! I would recommend Cafe Berlin to anyone visiting San Juan and definitely try the Mofongo and a Sangria!!!! Cheers....

Slow service
By ,
Six of us went in for dinner at about 5PM. By the time they served the last two the rest of us were done eating. They served a tropical drink with what looked like a used lime. When we complained they brought another that was just as bad.

Ver disappointing

We chose Cafe Berlin because of its superb location, right on the square. It turned out to be the only bad restaurant we ate at in San Juan. Service took forever, and when the waitress came, she spoke no English and misunderstood our order. Sandwiches are their specialty, but ours came with soggy buns (not the bread we ordered) and, in one case, a tiny bit of mystery meat masquerading as turkey, in the other, some third rate tuna salad that tasted like cat food. As tourists, we were definitely exploited. Avoid this. Every other restaurant we ate in at that location was much, much better.

best crabtini ever Says T-ROY from Tennessee

We were there with a food distributer,we were treated to some of [the best] restaurants in P.R. we found this place just walking around. If you ever go to old San Juan you have to go here. It is the best place in the world for food and fun. p.s. the owners are really cool people.

Great spot for breakfast
By ,
We really enjoyed the breakfast at Cafe Berlin before seeing the sites. My husband said the cafe con leche was excellent. We ordered eggs, toast, fresh fruit and French toast and everything was delicious. Service was friendly, but like most of the places in Puerto Rico a bit slow.

Not Worth It
By ,
the only good thing is that they have a vegetarian menu, the thing is that the quality of the tofu and soy is the same as buying it in a supermarket. The food quality is really bad and prices aren't that fair for it. The owners are really bad with people and the lack of interest in improving service is clear. My recommendation for you is better try another restaurant.

Horrible! June '09
By ,
A NYT review printout in the window was the closer for us to try this place. Big mistake! First my wife's request for salad dressing on the side was nicely accepted but not honored. My caesar's salad was not right, it was hot, tasted too acid and the croutons were chewy. I asked the waiter to please take it back because i did not like it and a few minutes later he came back with a baggie saying it was the restaurant's policy to keep it in my tab and that i could take it home if i wanted? I'm i supposed to like it better at home? i told him no thanks. Next out sandwiches came with our requested breads switched. So i told him this was his last chance. they took the sandwiches and swapped the buns(wife later said her bread had some of my tuna) To finish my sandwich had withered lettuce and at least a day old bun. Maybe we went there on a bad day, but it was our only bad meal in town.

after walking the streets and enjoying the scenery of old san juan, we needed to sit and take a breather. Cafe Berlin was the perfect place. outside tables to enjoy the weather, but we choose inside. nice atmosphere and our waiter was very pleasant. we ordered a breakfast. food was fantastic and the coffee was so good. the menu offered a nice variety for any appetite.prices were very reasonable.we would recommend Cafe Berlin for anyone who comes to beautiful old san juan.
