Located on Calle de San Sebastián, Nono's is known by locals and visitors alike as the best bar in the old city, for its excellent atmosphere and its "hip" crowd. While American specialties like burgers and salads are served, Nono's is best known for the partying spirit of its visitors. Full bar service is also available with frequent Happy Hours. The bar is housed in a colonial-style building overlooking San Jose Square. There are two floors, the first contains the bar and a seating area and the second features pool tables and other entertainment. The clientele comes from all walks of life.
After touring the castle in San Juan we stopped in here for a bite to eat. Heard that they had great burgers. The burger was good, but when we got the bill we were surprised to find out that the 10oz bottles of the local beer were $8 each and the pina colada was $12 . We had been in Puerto Rico for a week already and the most expensive local beer we had drank was only $5. Most places it was about $3.50. The server insisted that this was correct, so we paid the bill and vowed never to return.
An OK small bar and cafe at the corner of Cristo and San Sebastian Streets. This appears to mostly be a bar that has a handful of tables for hungry customers, though we did not see anyone eating there the three times we stopped in. We understand that food there is mostly American fast food and that it is not a bad place for something like a burger and fries. Ceiling fans produce good air movement and can cool you off as you enjoy a cold beverage.
