This restaurant with its fine cuisine can be found in the inexpensive Numero Uno guesthouse. Pamela Hope Yahn, previously of the famous Ottley's Plantation on the island of St. Kitts has created something special at her self-named eatery. It attracts tourists, locals and of course in-house guests. Try one of original soups that fuse South American turkey with corn and aji sauce, topped with sour cream. For a main dish, consider the Jamaican-style roast loin of pork with candied ginger. The red snapper is also very tasty and the desserts are equally delicious.
Pamelas was great!I took my girlfriend there for her birthday and we loved it.It was so romantic, service was great and the food was so good.I had red snapper that was very tasty but still had the head on it.I forget what she had but she loved it.I try to go to P.R. every year but next year I cant wait to go back to Pamelas.
My husband and I were recently on a trip to Puerto Rico and were so happy that we tried this place. The food was delicious and the service was top notch - very friendly and knowledgable about the cuisine and wine choices. The best part was the view - we caught a beautiful sunset while dining on the beach. I would highly recommend this romantic spot.
My husband and I went for our wedding anniversary tonight. Being a vegetarian in Puerto Rico, I was worried that I wouldn't find a place that had vegetarian food and was also fancy enough for the event. Pamela's more than satisfied. The vegetable Napoleon was such an interesting, unique mix of flavors and textures. My husband had halibut which he loved. We sat outside on the beach in the warm tropical breeze and enjoyed the amazing tastes. The desserts were really wonderful as well. We highly recommend this place for ambiance, food and service. It is not cheap, however, you pay for the quality.
Just got back from Purto Rico trip. One of the nicest things was lunch in Pamela's Restaurant, San Juan. Beautiful ocean front dining and delicious local specialties. We recommend this tropical place to every traveler.... Must try their excellent appetizers.
We went to dinner at Pamela's last night and it was a very pleasant experience. We tried salmon and pork medalions. Food was flavourful and just the right proportions.
Service was quick and easy.
The only issue is that the restaurant seemed a little out of the way but the cab fare wasn't too bad.
Definetely recommend trying it out !
Dined at Pamela's in March 2007 on a Sunday. We ate inside since there was nothing available outside. Food was very good, but nothing that blew us away. I found the crab appetizer to be a little "fishy", so I am not sure how fresh it was. Shrimp cocktail with lemongrass was very fresh and delicious, but plain. Meat entres (pork medallions and lamb) were flavorful and had unique and tasty sauces the complimented the meat. Desserts were uneventful. Wine we ordered they were out of and they brought another bottle to the table that they said was higher priced, but I'm not sure it was (gave us the wine for the price of the first). Wine list was average overall, but reasonably priced. Service was very good. However, we like to dine later in the evening - 8:30pm or so, and when I first made the reservation the person on the phone tried to get us to eat earlier. At the end of the meal we felt a little rushed out.
THis is definetely the ultimate romantic experience of San Juan.
Having dinner on a beach front and watching the sunset to some great tasting food and impeccable service doesn't get any better than this.
Did I mention that the food was awesome and the service was top notch, ok. The scenery is beautiful. You just need to check it out for yourself. Enjoy...
