Al Dente, San Juan Antiguo

Delightful meal The setting are in Old San Juan next to the piers we stop because was raining a we where hungry. One of our best meal in Puerto Rico. Incredible risotto with wild mushroom best eggplants as an appetizer tomato mozzarella and a touch of pepper WHOOOOO.... Great experience highly recommended.

My husband and I just returned from Puerto Rico with our 4 year old son and another family. We had such a wonderful dinner. We were greeted at the entrance by the manager who sat us down and chatted a bit. A little later, the owner came over and introduced himself and gave us such a welcoming feeling, just like being back in Southern Italy. The staff was very warm and friendly and the food was delicious. We did not feel like we were in such a touristy location. Some of the other restaurants in Old San Juan try to rush you in and out to accommodate the crowds, but this was such a pleasant, relaxed experience. Two days later we were passing by and the manager recognized us and came out to talk to us and give the kids a treat. Can't wait to go back to the beautiful island of Puerto Rico and visit our friends at Al Dente! Bon Appetite!

I loved everything, This is true Italian food. The service was excelent, everyone was very attentive to our needs and the food was served right on point. The restaurant is beautiful inside, it is a casual place but jet elegant. We meet the manager and the owner and they were very friendly. The calamari, the italian sausage,San Giuseppe pasta, Gnocchi pasta...try them all...IT WAS EXCELENT! I don't know were the people that did not liked it went...it could not be the same Al Dente restaurant. Probably they got confused with the cafeteria down the street and/or probably have never been to Italy or a real Iatalian restaurant. Don't pay any attention to the bad comments and go ahead and try it....you will love it! Take it from me I am Italian

My wife has food allergies that can make dining out difficult. The owner listened to our needs and called the chef out to help us. The chef made my wife a custom entree and desert, which were both excellent. I had the veal which had an inventive presentation. The prices were quite reasonable for a tourist location, and present a very cost-effective alternative to the resort restaurants. The overall ambiance was quite nice. The only hitch was they did not have the bottle of wine that we ordered.

2 words... Pumpkin Ravioli! Al Dente, is 1 of my favorite places for dinner! Try it! Although, I've never had to wait in the 4 times I visited San Juan last year, if there's a crowd, be patient, enjoy the ambience, it's WELL worth it! You'll want to savor every morsel and enjoy the spirit of the island!

The worst Italian cuisine ever! Well I am sorry Italian/American cuisine. Overall a very poor show. The service was not great, although clearly the staff were very stressed at having to explain the problem with half the menu being unavailable - many customers left, we only stayed because we were starving. The food was ok, but in view of the lack of attention given by management and lack of apology from him directly, I would avoid this place at all costs. Shocking really

i loved it the food ws delicioso and the service wonderful. much of the decorations in the restarante was amszing i felt like i was a special guess i really hope to come back any time that is a very good restarant

I loved the food and the employees were really responsive. The Manager suggested great dishes. Codfish was great and the sangria too. Great tiramisu. Will be back!!

This is the best restaurant we ate in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.We stopped because it said Sicilian on the window and my wife's family is from Agrigento and she said this people cooked just like her grandmother.

My husband and I were told by our neighbors to go to this fabulous restaurant called Aldente. Not only did we go on the second day of our vacation in Puerto Rico, we also went on the third, fourth and fifth day. We were totally pleased with the delicious and varied pasta dishes, the appetizers and the spinach balls filled with cheese are an absolute must.The pasta is definetly served al dente and the sauces are fresh, just like in Italy. My husband had a different fresh fish every night and I had all their homemade desserts. The owner, Giancarlo, is from Sicily and it is simply delightful to chat with him. He will make sure you will enjoy your visit to his restaurant. Also, the wife of Giancarlo, is an artist and she paints the buildings in San Juan in a very peculiar and fun way.On our next trip to Puerto Rico we will certainly go back to Aldente to satisfy our tastebuds and enjoy the excellent and casual atmosphere.
