The Acuario Nacional is not the biggest or the best aquarium in the world. That said, it's an interesting place with lots to see and do. My son especially enjoyed the sea turtles, which were in a shallow uncovered tank and got really close to us! The glass viewing tunnel was also nice and allowed us to see the fish up close and personal. They were doing construction inside the aquarium when we visited; I look forward to seeing it again when the construction is finished. The aquarium grounds are fantastic--a nice spot for picnics, birthday parties, or lazy strolls. The shaded grounds overlook the ocean for a beautiful view. We were thrilled to spot a large iguana and a small snake while exploring the grounds. Kids will love this aquarium. It's a good value for the entry fee and a pleasant place to spend an afternoon.

One of the most picturesque locations in Santo Domingo, this urban oasis should not be missed during a trip to this Caribbean Island. Can't beat the price even if you have to pay the tourist cost.

The atmosphere was incredible, merengue music and the people, amazing. The fish were so beautiful and tropical. My favorite part was watching people jump from nearby cliffs into warm tropical carribean water.
