This is Walmart in the Dominican Republic. They offer prices for every budget, and yes you get what you pay for! Totally satisfied!

I had an awful experience here I bought a bikini for my daughter and the price tag said on both sides 707 pesos later, I realized when I got home that I was charged 943. I called about this error, and was asked to go in the next day to place the claim. I did go back again, with my payment slip, and talked to the claiming department as well as with workers in the area (lady's department, and talked to a supervisor and the manager named Jose at Winston Churchill and he said he could do nothing about this that the correct price was the one I paid for. I told him my opinion about this and how it was not right to have customers look at one price and then find out later they were cheated in a way and to me it's a sneaky way of stealing and then not make up for their unethical mistake. I wish that the owners knew about this in case they don't ..and feel so sorry for everyone that is secretly being cheated on and robbed. This place is always full of people mostly poor to middle class, and when you spend an hour or more shopping and looking around etc.. all you want to do when you get tho the cashier is to pay and go home. I would like to add that the cashier did not even know how to subtract on her machinge, 3,215.70 from 4,000. She made several mistakes on the slip and asked my husband if he could help her with a calculator. I told her to make it more simple that I would give her the 15.70 so all she needed was to know that 10-2 is 8 or 40-32.. which is the same thing.. This is the type of employee that works here, so I am not amazed that the supervisor or manager were not up to my level of comprehention of what customer service is and what it means.. They don't know that an unsatisfied customer for 200 hundred pesos will multiply and then 200 will be multiplied as well to their disadvantage. PLEASE BE CAREFULL AND VERIFY YOUR PRICES ON VERIFYING MACHINES OR READ YOUR PAYMENT SLIP SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO WHAT I WENT THRU, AND EVALUATE IF THE ITEM IS WORTH IT OR NOT, AND MORE THAN THIS NOT BE CHEATED ON. I UNDERSTAND THE OWNERS OF PLAZA LAMA ARE EDUCATED AND WELL OFF FAMILY THAT DO NOT NEED TO CHEAT ON OUR MIDDLE CLASS IN ORDER TO GET RICHER.

I've recently moved to Santo Domingo and had the luckiest and the most wonderful experience meeting "Wanda" ( a fantastic manager, who works there at Plaza Lama and "incidently speaks English"). If you have any, I mean any problem, she is willing to meet your needs. I have purchased large items appliances from( refrigerator, oven, air-conditioners ) to ( scented candles ). I always have exceptional experiences when I shop there. If you want something that is not available ask for "Wanda" and if it can ordered she will find a way and inform you when it arrives! SHE IS THE BEST!

i feel that they charge 3 times the amount for electric products there they should lower there prices. the store is very well keep clean,the workers are very friendly,

I loved the prices, God its like a walmart but with a larger variety of stuff. I think it�s the largets department store in the island.

The ambiance is like a classy, 2 story, Super Wal-Mart but the selection is far better. The prices reflect bulk 3rd world savings and make spending pesos easy and painless. No need for haggling or bargaining in Spanish. After shopping other stores and not finding what I wanted and needed, this store fulfilled my family shopping list and surpassed my expectations. I hope you enjoy shopping here as much as I did. I am going back ASAP!
