Zoológico de La Habana

Description

Located in a central neighborhood of the Cuban capital, this zoo offers a glimpse of the natural world right in the heart of the city. Highlights among the animal inhabitants are the rhinoceros, monkeys, hippopotamus and some colorful and rare tropical birds. There is no shortage of sweets and ice-cream stalls to keep your little ones happy, along with the chance to sit them on the back of a small pony for a trot around the park.

I had great times in this place
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/16/07
I like this Zoo very much. I'm from Cuba and i used to live in a small town named San Antonio de los Banos wich is very close to Havana City where the Zoo is. I used to go there from time to time since i was a kid and i loved it, cause i love animals and nature. Now i live in the US. I wish someday i could visit this place again.

The Old Zoo
By Pepe, 1/15/06
This place is NY Metro Zoo gone tropical. A lot of the concesion stands are deserted and dilapidated. Animals are however happy and well taken care. Selection of species is decent. The animals's habitad is very old fashioned. Monkeys and felines cages are extremely small. Birds are well represented. Peacoks can still be seen strolling around loose inside the walkays, not so much as a few years back. Kids have some decent playgrounds available.

Zoologico
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/30/05
i liked all the fact that it's a nice quite refuge from the streets of havana. a bit run down, but it's totally worth the value. 2 pesos! it's right across the street from the bus station, which is what made us notice it. the monkeys are adorable, but i felt sorry for them, i wanted to take them home. the setup for the monkey island is real nice, the park swings are very noisy. and enjoyable experience.

By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/4/04
It was really amazing! I loved all of the animals. Riding on the pony was lots of fun. I saw many animals that I have never seen before. The monkeys were probably the best part. THey were so cute! I love Cuba so much and I want to go their again some day.I also loved the birds, the monkeys, the birds, the monkeys, the birds, the monkeys, the birds, the monkeys, the birds, the monkeys, the birds, the monkeys, the birds, the monkeys and all of the other animals. Thankyou to all of the people who made my visit pleasurable
