Carnaval de la Habana, Havana

The signs of carnival arriving in Havana are the following: First, it is publicly declared that from dusk to dawn, the city is one big party zone. Second, the processions formed by the Marqueses de Atars, La Sultana, El Alacrn, Las Bolleras and Los Guaracheros de Regla, take to the streets and everybody joins the conga. And finally, the best dance groups position themselves on their respective stages and play all night long. With these three main ingredients, plus lashings of beer, carnival season has hit Havana: these festivities take place at the end of July.
