Monserrate, Havana

A distinctive 40s atmosphere is the main attraction of this bar, with its wooden panels and plant boxes that separate it from the street, and a hard, polished bar that completely fills the back of the main saloon. The decor is dominated by the dark tones of mahogany, and customers are offered a choice of beers, Cuban and international cocktails, and the house drink known as the “Montserrate” (local rum and grapefruit juice). On the food menu there is a selection of pizzas, chicken and red meats. Also known as the “Casa del Saladito”, the bar often presents performances by a local music group, helping to give the place an atmosphere that is nostalgic for some, festive for others.
