Hoan Kiem Lake, Hanoi

I'd a ideal trip in this place- Hoankiem- Hanoi- Vietnam, my journey from 5 to 9th Oct, I went to Hanoi and stay at Thaison Grand Hotel- the impressive hotel in Hanoi Old quarter and I've best moment in there, nice hotel and nice view, there are many places to go and the price is cheap than I expected... I'd 1 day to discover Hanoi view, then I had 3 days 2 nite trip to Halong Bay, oh, majestic scenery with many thing to discover in Halong Bay. Unfortunately that I'd short time here, so didn't have enough time to go some other famous places, But i'm sure that in the near future I will

It's a wonderful lake, yeah very nice with trees and you can feel how about fresh air in here. If you hungry or thirsty, you can find what you want near Hoàn Kiếm Lake like: Thủy Tạ (ice-cream, delicious dish), Hồ Gươm Xanh (coffee, fast food, music).. and some food-moving shop on side-walk. Hà Nội's people very lovely and friendly. Come and feel ^^

i went there when i was a child and i wasn't paying attention, but then i remembered and having the knowledge of the turtle sword is a great thing to remember.

This small lake between the Old Quarter and the French Quarter is central to Hanoian folklore. A ghostly shrine (the Turtle Pagoda) standing on an islet at its center pays homage to a golden turtle. In the 15th century, this heroic reptile is said to have returned a magic sword to its home in the lake after it had been taken. These days, the sculptured park along the banks plays host to postcard sellers, hawkers, old men playing chess, freelance money changers, lone photographers looking for a lucrative snap and, at about 5am every day, locals practicing tai chi.

Hoan Kiem Lake is located at the heart of Hanoi. It's the symbol of the city and also the symbol of home for any Hanoian oversea. I have a picture of Hoan Kiem Lake on my world in the U.S. Every time I look at the picture I feel really homesick. It's a charming sight itself. It makes me think of my childhood and all the good old days. Around Hoan Kiem Lake, there are clubs, restaurants, bars, theaters and all the fun places I used to go with my friends every weekend. It sure holds a lot of memories.

Only been in Vietnam for a month and ten days and this is probably the place I go to the most. There's so much to see and everything and anything can be found at the shops around. During the day I'd go around taking pictures and coincidently found a photography club with almost all English speaking members. I think at night this place really comes alive.. I don't know if it's just fridays and saturdays but there's the night market where they set up little street shops for numerous blocks. It's also a couple's hotspot so good luck getting a bench :D Love this place. Tons of historical and cultural value. Can spend the whole day walking around looking at painters, people watching, shopping.. and prolly not even spend 30 USD. Lots of good food to eat as well.

I think you'll come back there addition more times,if you've gone there one time.The weather in there very wonderful,warmly,coolly.I sure it's good place for relax

Only few times passed, but really I found that it is a good place for you to enjoy. Especially in the evening or early morning, let's imagine that you are enjoying a thin fog of the lake in the early morning or a gentle breeze in the late of afternoon with a cup of coffee, you will touch the feeling of tranquil soul.
