Phang Nga Bay
Phang Nga Bay straddles the three main districts of Krabi province, and is one of the busiest day-trips out of Phuket. There are two popular spots here; with its signature rocky pinnacle, James Bond Island is spectacular and was so named because it was used in the film The Man With The Golden Gun. Koh Panyi (Sea Gypsy Island) is also popular. Home to a remarkable Muslim village, the whole of it is built over the water on stilts.
The water is amazing. It was so very clear. It reminded me a lot of my visit to Washington State. But a word of warning if you visit the resort I went to: the lecherous Kurtis Parsons,a Rosario Resort massage therapist, was using highly inappropriate in his behavior, both in how he spoke to me and in how he touched me. the problem was when I complained, he threatened me. I just let it go, but don't wish anyone else to experience what I did.
One of the best places I had ever been! The nature is breath taking. Our guide was amazing; he has such funny English.
We saw first the various islands, some are such small, then we went to James Bond island, were we bought a wonderful shell. You can get a very good price their, in Phuket it is ore expensive. Then we went to the Muslim Village, it is a village build on water, we got our dinner their.
Then we continued our tour to see more beautiful caves and island.
At the end we stopped on an island and we used our masks to sea colorful fish.
It was an amazing day, I will never forget.
We took a taxi from Phuket to the pier where the long tail boats leave in Phang Nga Bay. As soon as we got there a woman came up to us offering a long tail boat, which is exactly what we were looking for. We rented the boat (with a driver) for just the 4 of us for about 4 hours for around $100 USD. It was fantastic. The scenery is so amazingly beautiful. We were all so happy that we decided to go there for the day. It seriously was a wonderful experience. Just to explore the bay in the boat and look around at all the islands is great. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone.
Went on a day long trip with my friend and it was well worth it. Left Patong by bus in the morning and stopped by the Monkey Temple before arriving at the docks. The scenery was just breathtaking! Beautiful rock formations and the beaches of James Bond Island is a scene that I will always remember. On the way back we stopped at a floating Muslim village, don't remember the name though. Very friendly people and well worth it!
Pluses: Beautiful scenery, sea canoe experience going through sea caves into enclosed lagoons a unique experience
Minus: Had to turn back on 1st occasion as sea too rough. Calm sea the next day - went in the monsoon season.
If you are not claustrophobic, the sea canoe experience is great
to all nature lovers, u got to experience the sea canoeing around the Phang Nga Caves, you'll see different type of species like monkeys, fishes and others who are untouched and preserved especially for tourists to see...breath fresh air, enjoy nature's beauty and the travel on a boat in a deep blue sea...its a very unforgettable experience that i could recommend to all of my friends...You could appreciate more of what God has given us...i still want to go back one day...
I took a half day tour to Phang Nga Bay from Phuket, and felt that this was ample time. The tour took in the Monkey Temple, James Bond Island and the Muslim Village.
The part of the tour to James Bond Island was by long tailed boats and the views of some of the islands passed was spectacular, a time when the camera is needed. I did feel however that James Bond Island is overrated and is definitely one captive 'Tourist Trap'. The Muslim village was very interesting, with locally made handicrafts and foods for sale.
A very pleasant way to spend an afternoon.
One of the best trips of the week for me was a trip to Phang Nga, which included James Bond Island, sea gypsies, and elephant trekking. Some of the scenery is so unique, it's definitely worth going for a look. The elephant trek was a blast and was worth the price of the tour for that alone. The whole day, including lunch and air con bus from our resort in Phuket only cost 1100 baht, an unbelievable deal.
