Phuket Zoo, Phuket

There was a leopard in a tiny cage that had absolutely no water- i asked 10 different people if they could give it water and they all said no. The rabbits in tiny cages also had no water, i managed to go in their enclosure and take their waterers and fill them up and they all went nuts drinking. It was very upsetting. One of the rottweiler dogs in a tiny sad looking cage had conjunctivitis and the elephants with chains that are only a foot long is very sad. They rock back and forth which is a sign of distress

This zoo was not a zoo. It was a prison. All of the animals looked sad, dirty, were in filthy cages and clearly not treated with kindness. The atmosphere was awful. The elephants were sad, the camels and other animals had gaping open wounds, and the tigers looked drugged and the baby monkey's were half-crazed desperate for any affection offered. I am begging you not to support this awful place!

The animals at the Phuket zoo are clearly dying slow and painful deaths, caused by obvious disease and malnourishment. They are forced to live in small, overcrowded and cramped enclosures and deplorable conditions. It is a national disgrace to Thailand and should be closed down immediately.

Concentration camp for beaten and diseased animals.. It was the saddest thing seeing those poor animals living a miserable existence with no hope of a better life.. Caged in small enclosures, Tiger beaten with stick, Elephants hit behind show wall barriers.. The small caged animals looked skinny and unhealthy, this place should be shut down. Tiger cub looked scared of people. I bought as much of the food I could to feed the animals. Sorry I couldn't do more for them. DON"T GO worst experience In Thailand Shameful.

The previous reviewer was spot on, the tiger photo opportunity was heartbreaking as the keeper hits the tiger with a stick to ensure it looks upwards for the camera. I wonder how the zoo keeper lost his arm??? Hmmm. I was so upset at this treatment I wept as we left and cursed myself for even going to this awful place! I adopted a tiger through WWF when we came home as it was the only thing I could think to do to make up for my poor judgement :-(

I can not believe animals are treated in such away, people having their photo taken with a tiger ,to get the right picture the one armed zoo worker wackes it in the face with a large wooden stick , the cages are so small for some of the largest animals, I came away with a feeling of shame that people in the year 2008 still can use animals as a money spinner regardless of their suffering and unnatural life they will now be trying to surviving in...
