Patong Beach, Phuket

no likes. the "whores" rob you. cheap tequilas to get you drunk while you get fucked ECONOMICLY by the employes.

Phuket nothing like the pictures everything is tired and worn out, rubbish all over the beaches and obviously in the surf. I totally understand that it is a third world country but all the pictures depict pristine beach's not in Patong save yourself the trouble travel in Australia at least the pictures are accurate

I have been visiting Phuket (mostly Patong) ervery year over almost 20 years. The last time in February 2011 and I can tell you this was the last time. This island has nothing to do with Thailand anymore. The traffic has become terrible, the so called gentle people from the land of smile are rude and have nothing to do what made this country a popular holiday destination. An UNEP report has found E.coli and streptococcus bacteria reached high levels of 122000 and. 15000 per ml. at the Patong beach. These are levels where any beach would be closed in Europe/Australia or the US. I met people who got really sick and who had rashes all over. When I wanted discuss these issues with the Thai manager of my hotel (I know this man since almost 10 years) he simply said "don't come to Thailand anymore, we don't need people like you in our country". Well, I will certainly follow his advice.....At least never again Phuket. Too bad things have become so bad on this island. It was holiday jewel years back.

Beach was dirty! every few steps you find new debris. some are shary objects like planks with nails and broken glasses and metal cans. when you walk bare footed on the not wso beautiful beach, it is kind of an extra let down. real mood spoiler. shopping in the mall is a pretty nice experience here. lots of cheap, good quality stuff to buy. if you are the kind who like partying in bars w lots of bar girls and boy girls, this is a great place.

We have stayed on Patong Beach 4 times, the first time 2000, it was magic the Thai people so friendly! Last year Nov, i find the Thai people more westernised, which is a pity. Beach is great. Water fantastic!!! Love to retire in Phuket.

To start, I would like to comment on a few of the reviews that other people have written. Phuket will cost as much or as little as you want it to. If you choose to eat dinner at Savouy Seafood, expect to pay for it. Or you can choose to eat seafood at a more Thai style restaurant where the quality is just as good and the prices are far cheaper. Also the people that are trying to sell you suits as you walk down the side walk are not Thai, almost all of them are from India. They can be easy passed by and ignored, just avoid shaking their hand, that is when they try to pull you in. Do your homework when you book your hotel, unlike the states and western Europe, there is a BIG difference between places that may be right nextdoor to each other. Not all hotels are clean places to stay. A great one to stay in is the Summer Breeze Hotel. It may well be the cleanest hotel in Patong and the staff and owners alike are very friendly people who work hard to make you feel like family during your stay. Patong is very centraly located in Phuket. TukTuks are around every corner and there are many places to rent motorbikes to get around. Patong Beach is a good place to soak up the sun rays, but if you are looking for a more quiet relaxing beach experience, Leamg Seang Beach is a short TukTuk ride away. That is a very secluded, very relaxing beach to spend the afternoon and on Sunday evenings they put on a beach party where you can dance into the night. Patong is a great place to relax during the day, and party the night away. Don't overlook a trip to Thailand, no matter what part you stay in.

I love Phuket. The people are beautiful and friendly. They aim to please. From beach activities to night life, it is a good place to relax and have fun. lwa.

From Patong you can go everywhere day and night. You can move by boot ,motorbike,taximeter,rent anything you want or need. You can eat or do what you want all day or night night and you fell yourself completely free. Because of the concurrence you find the best price foreverything.Massage,hotel,rentals,food ..... In phuket you have a lot of very beautiful things to see and do. It is very easy if you start and come back from Patong. From all the others place it could be difficult to find a Taxi or Touc Touc at normal price if you want to move in the evening or soon in the morning.It is also dangerous to drive motorbike in the night. For me the best way is to rent a little or big sea view or mountain view apartment just in the beach front in the centre of Patong Beach. In the Patong- Tower condominium you can fine by internet some fantastic and good price apartment that's the owners want to rent. In the day on the beach at 80 metre from the Patong-Tower it is easy to find a small Thai boat who will bring you to beautifully and wild beach. Stayed at the Holiday Inn at patong last year and found it very comfortable. The Thai people are friendly and will do all they can to ensure you have a good time. The POK POK Bar on Nanai Road was a great place where we spent several evenings. We are going back this year. from Terry and gill.

We loved the beach. By day time, you could get your hair braided and beaded, a manicure, pedicure, full body massage or a foot massage, you could also get your heels peeled. There is always a fresh fruit trailer nearby so you could buy fresh fruit sliced up or fresh fruit juice. All lovely and cold considering how stinking hot it was. I was getting my hair braided and beaded and my toenails painted while my husband stood around waiting so when the lady finished my toenails, she asked my Husband if he would like his heels peeled of dead skin. It took the lady about ten minutes and he couldn't believe how smooth they were. We also went parasailing, which was wicked fun. The only problem I had was that the parachute buckles squashed my boobs as I shot into the air. Had I known that, I could have positioned it differently I guess. They also have speed boats, and jet ski's operating all day. We came back each evening to watch the sun set. Magical, totally magical. Everyone is so respectful of everyone else. This is nothing to do with the beach but do avoid those horrid people on motorbikes that thrust scratchies into your hand. Don't scratch them - they are time share opportunities. We were abused by one so do be aware.
