Phuket Sea Shell Museum
Considered to be one of the world's most outstanding private museums, Phuket Sea Shell Museum is said to contain the most valuable collection of seashells anywhere. While most of the shells are from Phuket and the sea around Thailand, there are also a large number from other parts of the world, each specimen carefully selected for its quality and condition. Rarities include an oyster weighing 140 karats, the world's largest golden pearl, shell fossils and a huge shell weighing 250 kilograms.
What a gem! This is an elegant presentation of an amazing collection of extant shells and fossils. Every visitor will be impressed by the layout and care with which the collection has been put together. The labels, both in Thai and English, are excellently worded, obviously by professionals. Congratulations to the people who were responsible for allowing us the privelege of seeing this amazing collection.
when I visited your place I was so excited because I am a avid dealer and I was on a learning curb in 2002,,I was overwhemled by the presentation and and that fact that the store was based on the top floor and the museum was like a hidden cavern..I went to every display case and stood amazed/ when I had left I went upstairs and checked out the store..Although at that time I thought some of your shells were tops I today relised that many had many flaws in your showcases set for retail selling..But not all of them..It was the Philippine shells and foriegn shells that I noticed that you were selling and the grading was not that good..In fact I had sold eveyone in thailand in the past two years and noticed alot of their non local stuff was not top grade..But that was in 2002..maybe things have change..Next time I visit in August I will check you out again..All I know is the museum was so nice it didnt even matter,,,it was just a few shells but I just wanted to share that with you..You are a asset to the shell industry.Thank you..Mr.. Diamond Zaferis..P.S. say Hi to Jom for me and Mook..I did come back in August of 2004 but I just breezed in and out..I will make sure next time I will take my time..Keep the good work up
