DO NOT EAT HERE

The only positive comment I can make is that the service was fine, probably because it was a quiet night and there weren't many patrons. For a restaurant that claims to be all about fine Italian dining my wife and I could not have been more disappointed. Having sat down and looked at the menu I commented to my wife immediately that this could be one of those Gordon Ramsay kitchen nightmare evenings. The menu had 95 items! I know that because they were numbered. I've travelled all over the world and I can tell you one thing...any restaurant that numbers the menu items and has 95 of them is not cooking fresh food and wont be a master of anything they cook. There were 5 pasta types which the patron could match up with 14 different sauces, completely ignoring the fact that long pasta is best suited to thinner sauces and short pasta to thicker sauce. My radar peaked immediately...this could not be a genuine Italian chef who is proud of what he cooks. Tis looks like a restaurant catering to tourists who may not appreciate what decent Italian cooking is all about...simple and fresh. My linguini was ok, not great, the pasta stuck together at points, so not fresh. But my main, veal with shitake mushroom and white truffle oil sauce was a complete disaster. I sent it back as I started feeling sick after 4 or 5 mouthfuls. The sauce was so oily it was disgusting. No offer to make me something new...bizarre service, and that was from the owner. We were deeply disappointed having spent USD200 on the evening, including a decent Barolo which admittedly made up half the price. We went home regretting we hadn't just dined at the Italian restaurant at the resort.
