Little Mermaid (The), Phuket

I stayed at the little mermaid back in 2003 with friends of mine from America. Carson was a great host while we waited for our rental home to become availible. Even after we had left the hotel we continued to stop in and Carson and his family came to BBQ's at our rental home. I have not had the time to get back to there yet. But when I saw the chance to say something about this wonderful place I had to take advantage of the opertunity. Thank you Joe

We arrived to the hotel one day early and the room we had reserved was already occupied, but the manager let us stay in the upper suites for the same price, because he did not want us to go to another hotel. Which we found great! We stayed at this hotel for 6 days.Our room (17) which was around the pool, smelled so bad we had to air it out everyday. The floors were dirty and I usually wore my flip flops around the room to avoid making contact with my bare feet. The pool was great with a swim up bar. I would say that was the only really good thing about this place. The people that worked at the hotel hardly spoke english and no one seemed to know what was going on. They had 2 internets which were usually occupied. I don't think I would stay here again.

Cannot fault anything about The Little Mermaid. Really good value for money, excellent staff, service and attitude, very friendly place that is convieniantly located near shops and beautiful beaches. Plus it has it's own large swimming pool; I cannot wait to return there.

I had made a booking for an AC room in the guesthouse via the resort homepage. Upon our arrival I presented the receptionist with the written confirmation, only for her to ask me: "Have you got any other confirmation" I replied: "No, this is the room confirmation generated by YOUR homepage" I soon found out that Karsten hadn't checked his e-mails and therefore the room I had booked was not available any longer. At no point an apology was offered, even worse I was given the impression that everything was my fault because I hadn't REconfirmed the room - nowhere mentioned that the booking should be reconfirmed but it was stated that my CC would automatically be charged for the booking!!(in the receptionists words: My confirmation was ONLY made by computer). THE ROOM: Fan room in guesthouse - walls were mouldy, bedsheets dirty, bathtowels dirty and the whole room in desperate need of a makeover. When I asked the receptionist if an extra fan was available as the fan in the room wasn't doing anything to make the heat more bearable she simply replied "No" - No efford was made to make us feel comfortable and I would never recommed this place to anyone - They certainly don't treat all their guests like the "Mermaid Family". After one night in the resort which I can only describe as a nightmare we checked out and found a lovely place just around the corner. Fotos of our room are available upon request
