Baan Rim Pa, Phuket

A bit touristy? Well, you're in Phuket and everyone's a tourist. This place is GREAT. The food is excellent, and you can't beat the location - perched above a cliff overlooking a beach and crashing waves. Ambiance is just awesome and perfect for that evening out on the tropical island. Highly recommended.

After sitting around the piano bar listening to some great jazz by Tommy Doyle, we were seated at a table with a view overlooking the cliffs that lead to the shoreline. The food was delicious and cooked to perfection. Special thanks to our host Tommy Mac and to the staff for making our visit memorable. This is a must visit while in Phuket.

I had a sunset dinner at Baan Rim Pa, and it was amazing. When the girl i was traveling with was at the restroom, i asked my server if she could get some roses for her. Our server somehow got them, and added them to bill, and had the smarts to put them on my seat while we were dancing to "the way you look tonight" by Frank Sinatra. The girl was simple thrilled when she came back and i whipped out the roses for her. It is relatively cheap, unless you order drinks. My dinner at Baan Rim Pa helped save a trip that started poorly, and gave me some of the sweetest memories of my life. Also, they are one of the very few restraunts not attached to a hotel that takes credit card.

Beautiful restaurant with a great view but the prawns and fish were not too fresh. My 8 year old daughter had food poisoning. It may have been an off prawn.

We have just been back to Baan Rim Pa for the 10th year in succession. This is also a high light of our trip. We had New Years Eve there. What a great night. The staff the ambiance the food. This is not to be missed. Jim & Linda U.K.

I heard so much about this restaurant and besides being on the coast I can't see why it's so popular. The service was slow and with attitude and the food not fresh. It seems this restaurant has seen better days. The manager could'nt care less about our experience when we complained.

This restaurant is amazing. The atmosphere cannot be beat. Very good lighting. The sound of the surf is very relaxing. Food is great, but don't order anything that has to be weighed, ie jumbo shrimp or lobster. That will really escalate the bill. There are enough excellent items on the menu to choose from. You can either go with your friends or the love of your life. The combination of excellent views, good gourmet and this "I don't know what" makes the place formidable. It's the right place to "ask" the love of your life...

lots of anticipation, its so famous, but the place is falling apart. we accidently walked into the kitchen and could not believe how filthy it was, people smoking while working with the food. Horrible. food is terrible, very poor quality and old tasting, even the rice is bad. service slow and pathetic. good wine list and wine steward girl but the others were a joke. the view and piano player are nice. there was a cat under our table that went into the kitchen, not a good sign. maybe it is on the menu? very hot and started to rain, the rain came through the roof onto our table. we complained but the manager laughed. simply a tourist trap.

Baan Rim Pa was the best restaurant we dined at during our stay at Thailand. The people were so so nice [as everywhere else] and the food was just magnificent, very well presented. It was a clean place and the scenery was just supperb. The ice sculpture out the front was amazing. It was a night that will stay in my mind forever.
