Don's Cafe

Description

Don Battles, the affable owner, has been serving superb beef specialties for many years. The meat is barbecued over charcoal with the addition of Texas mesquite wood, thereby adding a unique flavor. There is little in the way of decorative-trimmings here, but the homely, primarily al fresco setting, is a firm favorite amongst the ex-pats who live in the vicinity. An all new menu was recently unveiled extending the number of dishes on offer to over 400. Steaks and prime rib--served with potato, salad or vegetables for THB195-THB285--are the still the best sellers, as well as traditional Mexican fare and sandwiches. The Georgia-style Baby Back Ribs (THB135) are sumptuous too.

Just ok
By ,
It's overpriced. only go if you really just need a little something from home. otherwise, visit the night markets, experience a little more. i have yet to find a spot in thailand that can do foreign food as well as their own...even if it is by a farang. make one trip, and leave it at that.

it's ok

I didn't have great experiences, it is just ok. I think there a many more other restaurants on the island that deserve more praise, in the same price category. Take it from an expat who lives here.

Not quite American...
By ,
This restraunt is one of the more American restraunts on the island, but I wouln't call it American. It's great for big groups and feel free to bring the kids. It's a very social restraunt and you are more than likely to walk away with a few more friends. For the most part the people who eat there are Thai women married to forigners with their familys. The beef is very good, but there are better 'steak houses' on the island. Overall it's a great spot.

Amurrcan food in Thailand
By ,
Remarkable Continental dishes as well as American food. Best beef in Thailand, because the owner has a program with govt agencies to age the beef.
