Chiang Rai is only a three-hour drive from Chiang Mai. During a day trip, one may visit the various temples within the city, the King Meng Rai Monument and the Navel Pillar, which is an artistic representation of the age-old Buddhist beliefs. Supplementing the natural and historical aspects of the city are modern amenities like quality hotels, fine dining outlets, an international airport, international banking facilities and other services that make for a comfortable trip.
