Description

The spectacular Grand Palace is an example of great architecture. It is one of Bangkok's most impressive collection's of temples and palaces. Although the Royal Family no longer resides here, the Palace is still used for ceremonial purposes, and most of it remains closed to the public; however, the four main buildings are incorporated in the grounds of the glittering Wat Phra Keo and must be visited to experience their brilliant, diverse styles. Appropriate dress code required.

Very tiring and costly

Though everybody liked it but i found it a little tiring and very costly with no special new thing.. it was like every palace with more complicated ways no proper help. i would not recommend u to go there

Wow! Treasures all around!

They know how to build a palace in Thailand....it's good to be the king! The architecture, jewels, gold, jade etc. are stunning to see. Make sure you camera is ready for lots (100s) of photos. A guide is useful to explain the different parts of the palace, royal history etc.

Inside the Palace itself there are 3 temples; one in which the entire room is made up of real gold- unfortunately they will not allow you take any photos. but the rest of the tour pictures are welcomed; take lots of them!!

Beautifully maintained

The palace is decorated lavishly and it is difficult to not be impressed with the fine detail and constant manicuring of the property. As other reviews cite, the place certainly is gorgeous!

st disappointed. Many building were under construction that destroy historic atmosphere, creating an emotion of modernization or artificial destination. Very few places permitted to access or no stopping place for relax.

Very Grand

We were advised at our Hotel that we might be told that the G Palace was closed... and sure enough we were but we ignored it and walked in the entrance anyway. Apparently its a ploy used to get tourists to go to other places, often jewellry shops. Once inside an official guide gave us a good tour of this beautiful and historical site which was well worth the money. (about 400 baht)

Good place to visit

I liked the Grand Palace. It lives up to its name. My only complaints is there was a man standing nearby who told us the place was closed. It is only open to Thai people due to a National Holiday. If you are going to Bangkok, beware because this will happen no matter where you go. The people are trying to get you to go somewhere else to spend your money and the guards/people working at the attraction do nothing to stop this.

Simply beautiful

The temples and buildings in the Grand Palace are so beautiful from a distance, that I was amazed at their beauty close up. Tile work, ceramic, free-hand painting, gold leaf -- the buildings have everything, and are in amazingly good condition. Fine Arts students from Thailand's universities are responsible for the upkeep of these ancient buildings, and it really shows. Simply a 'must-see' when visiting Thailand.
