Cabbages and Condoms, Watthana Khwaeng

This restaurant was so highly recommended that me and my wife decided to try it. Here's what we found out - The chicken in the salad was so overcooked. The salad has no taste that it is probably better just to eat the vegetables raw. The deep fried chicken wrapped in pandan leave is not flavourful (my neighbourhood yong tau foo stall's cheicken similarly done is 100 Xs better and cheaper too), probably not marinated long enough. The green curry and the tom yum goong have too much coconut milk in them, so much that it's so overpowering. Too much coconut milk is not healthy and definitely not tasty. And the prices are not cheap too. The consolation was the coconut drink (pretty good).

We just returned from a four week trip throughout southeast Asia. C and C was the BEST dining experience of our time abroad. The food was good, the atmosphere most unique, and the musicial entertainment terrific. The prices more than resonable and service was excellent. Plus the condom theme was both fun and intersting. It is a must stop for visitors to Bangkok

We�ve been there in May 2006, while we staied in Bangkok for 4 Days. All of liked the nice ambiente there. Its like a garden with big trees in the middle of the city. Of course it was not realy cheap, but the food they served was delicious! Also they serve great cocktails!

Great food, nice staff! Good value for money! This year we are going back too Thailand and we are going back too this restaurant, we have still good memories about it.

Overrated tourist restaurant, which seems to get publicity from the owners very worthy causes, but the food is bland and westernised. Thai omelette with Ketchup? Not the traditional way of servingit I don't think. Food is OK and very safe; but a million miles away from authentic Thai. If this is all you want, stay in Europe or the US and eat the Thai food there, it will be more authentic

I recently visited Thailand with a friend. It was one of the best places to stay in Thailand. I loved the place due its amazing ambience. The thing i loved the most is the environment at the hotel. You feel like at a party all the time. The food is also good. However, the value which they offer for money is not worth it. The rates should be a little low. But they are out there to earn money so cant say anything about it. Anyways it is a great place to stay for the couples and young people. Enjoy a happening stay in this hotel.

Having lived in Bangkok for now over 34 years, i always used to take visitors to C & C as it was a good setting, close to home and better than average Thai food. I only eat Thai food out at night when the cook has a night off, and when visitors are in town. I never take guests to Baan Khanita or any other "authentic" restaurant because 1) my cook is better than anyone in town and 2)I would rather pay the money and go eat French at Le Bouchon Well i will probably never go back after my last experience. We ordered spring rolls, somtam and sticky rice, chicken satays and morning glory as we weren't feeling too hungry. Well, the spring rolls were far too deep fried and all you could taste was the old oil. The somtam was soggy, not crisp and rather brown, with not much flavour. The sticky rice was dried out and the chicken satays were rubbery and cold. The morning glory was nice though. I was so disappointed. I realise that is an ultimate tourist attraction, with the condoms instead of mints etc... but a restaurant should be known for it's good food and consistency. So if you are tourists reading this and want to get some really good Thai food, go one soi down to soi 14 to Suda, you will not be disappointed.

Good food, modest prices, friendly service in a delightful garden setting(inside dining is available).A new kind of rice is being pioneered here it is quite brown somewhat nutty in flavour and is being promoted as a premium product in the hope of providing good returns for farmers.Indulge yourself but feel good about supportinga good cause.

A tourist trap serving third rate food in a scruffy dump of a building. Very few local expats bother with it these days.
