Cafe De Laos, Bang rak

This old colonial-style house lies in Bangkok's busy commercial district opposite Central Silom. It is owned by famous restaurateur Kriangkai Thiennukul, the owner of Milk Plus. You can eat in the adjacent garden, or inside, where Laotian memorabilia creates an authentic atmosphere. Cafe Laos offers Laos-Issan dishes such as Miang Pla Chon Gled Hima (serpent-head fish in snowflakes), served with miang (peanuts, baby dried shrimp, lemon rind, and others things wrapped in chao poo leaf); tom som gai (sour chicken soup with tamarind leaf), and crispy frog topped with basil leaves. Corkage is THB300 for whisky and THB100 for wine.
