the last reviewer had a terrible experience! any normal person would have walked out, made a scene, not paid a dime or all the above.... so what does this guy do? He was so furious that he let them keep the change (600B) before storming off... ooooh, you sure showed them....haha! anyhow, i also have been to khanita a couple of times. Nice food, but very over-rated. there are better places out there.

we went to numerous Thai restaurants in BKK. None were as good as NYC, let alone B Khanita. Don't miss this for slightly upscale Thai.

One of the best Thai restaurants I ever eaten in.

Consistency and service. Baan Khanita is a sure stop in every of my BKK trips and it's become a favourite of relatives and friends as well. The new restaurant on South Sathon Road is simply beautiful. Despite its expansion, the restaurant has maintained its wonderful service and staff are ever so willing to assist and not snooty like a restaurant along the same road. Pick any item on the menu and u'll never go wrong. Every dish is exquisite. And never leave Baan Khanita without desserts. Unmatched.

Had dinner at the Soi 23 location last night. Ordered a lemon sea bass that didn't arrive at our table. I thought, "no problem", I will just have them take it off the bill. When I requested this it took 45 minutes and they wanted me to wait longer until the "owner" came. They insisted that we got the fish, now I would know if a fish came to the table. DEFINITELY NOT RECOMMENDED - we got ripped off big time. I have eaten there many times in 16 years - but I will never return

This is a traditional Thai restuarant, upscale in quality and service but not expensive to screen out the middle class. The Thais eat here, too. That says a lot. It is very clean and attractive, the food is as good as it gets, the staff is very attentive and polite, and the price is where any tourist can afford it. It gets an unqualified recommendation from me. Note this place is pretty much exclusively Thai food, so if some farang going with you wants a hamburger, you won't find that kind of food here.

Really nice place for a good Thai meal with friends - especially if you have visitors in town

On our second trip to Thailand we visited Baan Kanitha at the soi 23 restaurant. Tried it on the off-chance - no idea what to expect, we had just picked up a card somewhere and thought it sounded nice. Wow, what a result! Took a while to walk there from the Asok Skytrain stop on Sukhumvit, and the staff on the door were a little surprised to see us walk in off the street. I guess most visitors come by car and I think we will get a cab next time. There�s great ambiance with simple but elegant d�cor. The excellent staff, helpful and friendly without being intrusive, will assist with menu choices if you like and are very tourist-tolerant. The appetiser thing with leaves and little dried shrimp and chutney and other bits is just great. No idea what it�s called or even what some of the bits were, but we really enjoyed it! We went through the menu and chose a couple of things we knew of (pandan chicken, chicken with cashews) but asked the waiter for a couple of other suggestions. All were marvellous. Good choice of wines also. You know the thing about Thai curries getting hotter the further south you get? Quite true, but if like me you like western-level spicy but are cautious of the chilli level you get down towards Malaysia there is plenty of choice. Not the cheapest Thai restaurant around but you really do get great food. (If you want cheap, go for Suda off Soi 14 - no frills but REALLY worth tracking down). Our impending Thai trip takes us to Bangkok again and we will definitely eat at Baan Kanitha (and Suda!) at least once. On recommendation of others here, I�ll try the pomelo salad. Sounds delicious.

Love the settings and atmosphere. Food is excellant, waiters was very helpful and polite. Have been there three times..... each time i visit Bangkok.... it is a must visit place... Love the Thai seafood tomyam soup....and the funny thai appetizer...the leaf wrapping appetizer is delicious

Baan Khanitha has great food, the service is attentive and amusing, and the restaurant decor is a study in all things antique Thai. It is a restaurant that is visited again and again by a contingent of American teachers from Saudi Arabia. I had such a wonderful experience in August that I am making time for a return visit in October. By all means go and enjoy!
