Description

The wide open spaces found at this giant memorial hall make it the ideal place to try out those new roller blades, play badminton or just take an evening stroll. The fact that it is vehicle free just adds to its charm. Inside the many art galleries that highlight Taiwan's history, regularly hold exhibitions and events. This cultural venue is also the place to enjoy the changing of the guards, which is an incredible demonstration of military precision. Make sure you get a good viewing position for this grand event.

Wish I knew Chinese

The building is beautiful. I got stuck in there during a rainstorm on my first day in Taiwan. The guards really do look fake. I wish I could read Chinese, because almost nothing was in English, so it was hard to know what you were looking at.

Nice building, but great park with terrace

The building is nice, but one should check out the park nearbye with a impressive view (like a postcard) on the fishpond and on the 101. Combine this with some nice sunny weather and some good cappucino + bagel and you have a great spot to enjoy a lunch during the (not so hot) spings or autumns in Taipei

The surrounding gardens are worth a trip unto themselves. The interior of the Building is nice. But the most important and ,in my opinion, the best feature is the changing of the Guard which happens once or twice a day(I beleive 11am?). Differant branches of the military are represented each week.Sensational!
