Taipei Fine Arts Museum, Taipei City

This was my most recent visit- 1990-93 I visited often -and lived in Taipei-- it is worth seeing and often has a "free" area you can enter without a ticket- and a hosted show. It has a nice sculpture garden outside-and is near the Shr-Lin night market, and Grand Hotel side of Taipei- and I think the newer Floral park area is very close. For CLASSIC art -be sure to go to the National Palace Museum.-- Best thing about a Museum Visit in the summer- AIRCONDITIONING!

poorly designed as an exhibition space, not a lot worth seeing in the collection (a collection that they hold in such esteem as to charge for a photo pass, gall such as I've only seen at florence's accademia gallery). on top of this, the crowds at each painting of the recent Manet to Picasso exhibit were comparable to the mona lisa's constant throng. its cheap as hell, so check it out if you feel like it (at least the exterior of the building is good for a few pictures), but as a museum space this is the worst i've seen.
