Hobbit House Manila

It is has been a long time (20 years) since I have been to the Hobbit House in Manila, but judging from the reviews, I would think it is worth the spot on one's itinerary while in Manila. I would guess that this is one of the very few places that "little people" can be employed, although like everybody else in the Philippines, I would guess they fare no better than the cruddy minimum wage that the Philippines has to offer everybody else there. I think the food and the entertainment would be all worth it by itself. But, the “leader” into such a restaurant has to be the food servers who are all "little people." It would be nice to get away from the terminology that is already outdated and that is the word "hobbit," although granted the term is used as the restaurant's name. When I was there 20 years ago, the restaurant was owned and being managed by a former Peace Corps Volunteer who had served before in the Philippines. I don't know if is still so. I would say that while I don't object to former PCV's being involved in business, I would hope that these little people are better off employment-wise and maybe paid a little better than their taller brethren in other businesses. I plan to be in the Philippines this coming April and I will take my wife over to the place and see what has changed and what is still the same.
