i love this place , first of all: its intricate details ornaments. it is just too much effort, time, labour to beautify this building. by talking to the worker there we get to know that the placement of the status of the sikhs, the smilling buddha,the lions are all carry meaning, they are there to enhance the good feng shui of that place which bring wealth,prosperity, health and happiness to family khoo. understanding of the function of the khoo kongsi temple bring more imagination on how was this place was a hundred year ago.
there is a underground tunnel which is not open for public. i am so curious about this tunnel. hopefully in the near future, they will open to public.
some renovation of the nearby shophouses are on the progress. i personally think that the renovation and the occupancy of the shophouses are totally ignorance of the culture and theme of khoo kongsi. such a waste of this heritage spot where they should study and appreaciate what is inherited, and perk up the culture.
the small 'restaurant' in the temple itself is in such a miserable condition. though it is only a small spot, it managed to spoilt the whole atmosphere, i was expecting something more oriental...
