Nagore Shrine
Description
Located just a stone's throw away from the Maha Mariamman Temple is the blue-and-white shrine founded by the Maricans (Mericans) from Tamil Nadu in memory of the most celebrated saint of Nagore, the thirteenth century Sharul Hameed Qadirvoh. The East India Company granted permission for the miniature Moghul monument in 1801 on the same day the grant for the Kapitan Keling Mosque (a five-minute walk away) was issued. Visitors are not allowed inside but they can admire the "hole-in-the-wall" shops beside the shrine as they view the landmark's exterior.
