The founding of Ghee Hiang dates back to the 1840s, making it the oldest surviving business of any kind on the island. It has since then become as well-known among the Chinese diaspora as perhaps the bean paste biscuit itself. The biscuits are known as tau sa peah (biscuits stuffed with powdered bean paste) and beh the saw (flaky biscuits filled with gluey water chestnut paste). Ghee Hiang's success has spawned numerous copycats but the originals still taste the best. It is advisable to place orders rather than chance a walk-in purchase.
They have the existing and new outlets which told the progression in history the company have evolved.
Ambience in the existing outlet is laid back and reminesince of the colonial days;time stood still.
Ambience in the new outlet lends itself to tell how their products have remained almsot the same in taste through the years but have modernised in hygenic packaging and appearence.

Everything sold under their brand name depicts the simple goodness and pleasures of fine food with absolute hygiene in mind.(Other brands have packaging exposed to infestation and contamination!)
