Sunway Lagoon Theme Park, Petaling Jaya

no outside food & drinks so bad.. they even ask me to pour away my hot water but i refuse cause i need that for my baby's milk.. they so bias check on our bags so detail and not their same race bags.. international airport security also no check like that feel very uncomfortable with them.. food selling inside the park so damn expensive.. staff are so rude.. will never visit this place again..

Read negative reviews and didnt have high expectation. Pleasantly surprised, the facilities are well kept and maintained. Enough rides and attractions for a good day out in general for older chidren and teens. Atmosphere was good, clean and safe - nothing much to complain. Food was passable not great - the prices are 2-3 times higher than outside. Price is steep especially with strict no outside food/water policy and ridiculous one-time use locker system requiring payment each time you access locker - this is a water park and there will be times you need to put stuff in and out. Mercenary system. They also require a deposit for ridiculous wrist tags, which they try to con you to exchange for a lousy watch or tshirt at the exit. Decline if you dont want.

Pulling up to the park, it looked great. We paid for the kids to go to all 5 attractions but when we got in there we found out that we had to pay extra for the kids to go on the Bunji jump and the ball that goes up in the air (135.00 ringet). Half the rides were closed so I suggest to anyone else thinking about going only pay for 3 attractions and pay for an upgrade when you get there. It was a total waste of money and we would of been better spending the money elsewhere.

I went last year but i was told most of the parks were close for cleaning , so i thought its was ok , couse i thought the ticket price would be cheaper....but nooo it was the same. Then i thought why should i pay Rm 70 if most of it was close. So i am planing to go again next month ....but when i read all of this review i was so so disappointed with Sunway lagoon theme park . The ticket price is very expensive , No outside food ......very bad service....I think i am never ever going to plan a trip there . I am going to find other place to Enjoy with my family........People dont spend ur money there.

I read some reviews about lousy services, so I didn't pin high hope. While queuing for the rides (gotta say, we were quite lucky as most of the rides are in operation, maybe because it's on weekend??), most of the staff are pretty friendly, and quite helpful in providing answers. Some even joked with us :) We may have a misconception that they tend to treat their own race a bit better (which may or may not be true), but I'm not of their race. So I gotta say, we were treated quite fairly and nice by some of the staff there. :)

Although it was fun, I wouldn't recommend it to anybody, It doesn't worth the money as the price keeps increasing every season. I have purchased my tickets online "All rules are clear there if you can read Eng, no outside food and drinks, timing, single entry, etc. which I'm fine with". But once in, I was surprised that some of the rides are off for maintenance and polishing "my personal favorites!" -that was a bummer-, specially with no notice of what so ever. Another thing I come to notice is that the management is trying to cut down some expenses so the whole place changed to little-Mumbai "yes, you don't feel like you're in Malaysia anymore". Somebody should convince the new staff that its a "theme park" they are working for, and its their duty to smile and provide a friendly atmosphere for the patrons. I would come back only if the staff is changed to the good old friendly ones, the price settled down, proficiency at work, and full info providence for online purchasing.

Anyways... I was in KL for supposedly short work assignment but they had me stay there for the Christmas Holidays. So I agreed to meet this local girl for her b-day celebration at Sunway Lagoon. The restaurants and bars were great. We started going out for a few weeks. One night she surprised me by taking me to a Karaoki bar at Sunway. Awesome service, if you have the money to spend. We had an arguement and she went home. I found another girlfriend at the Karaoki place. Can't complain. It all happened at Sunway Lagoon. Several years later, my young sister, an avid traveller to the southeast Asia showed me her travel pictures. There, Sunway Lagoon...she said. It took me a few seconds to realize what she was talking about. I said, "Oh, Sunway...I didn't know it is a Theme Park!!"

My family and I bought three tickets of 3 Parks package online only to be dissapointed after we arrived there. We entered the water park at almost 5pm and the staff informed us the park will be closed at 6pm. We thought that was alright as we could go to another 2 parks the next day. If you expect the same excitement as gold coast water park, then you shouldn't go as you will be dissapointed. There was limited water slides, small children area, and no waves on the waves pool. In addition, when we came back the next day around noon, we were refused entry as the ticket only valid for 1 day. I have read the term & condition before purchasing online and there wasn't any written notice saying that packages were only valid for 1 day. I tried to reason with the manager on duty, however, their style of management is rigit. I know we need to follow the rule, but manager should have the flexibility on their authority. Yes, his title is manager, but that manager can't accept any explanation, so no matter what I said the answer was no entry.

Poor value for money The park may be aesthetically pleasing, but lacks substance in every way, especially for the price. It is quite expensive with the theme park offering minimal rides that offer no thrills to the visitor, in addition the water park, has limited water slides, with limited thrills, as well. My family and I were severely disappointed with the park as a whole and left shortly after entering. This attraction completely rips off tourists, as tourists pay a higher price and offered little to no value.

It was a horrible weekend at sunway lagoon! There was a 'No food and drinks' Signboard which made most people very upset. They were make to eat or drink up their food and water or throw bottles of water and food away in order to go in to the park. It was ridiculous of them to only allow empty bottles into the park for us to fill with their free water from the water coolers inside. It made no sense! The 'no water' rule was completely ridiculous and inconsistant! I was allowed to go in with 2 bottles for my 2 young children on the 1st day, and was refused entry on the 2nd day! They kept pointing to the signboard and said 'no outside food and drink' to me and will not listen to me at all. And the 'No food' rule absurdly included even mints/ sweets or plums which people carried in their bags! The Director of Operations - Yusmady was especially rude and authoratative. I spent almost 30mins reasoning with them and when he could not make rational reason, he then decided to refuse entry for us and resorted to threatening my family with the CCTV at the entrance, which was completely uncalled for! On top of that, they did not refund me. Reason being that the tickets were bought on the internet, therefore, non- refundable. It is understandable for a 'No food and drinks' rule to apply such that customers will spend in their premises. But in this case, the refusal of water (which can be obtained free inside) and of mints and such (to help prevent nausea for my children when they are taking rides in the park) clearly makes no sense. Rude staff and dumb rules...This place security checks are worse than the airport.. Never visit a place like this before and will never visit this place again. (Expensive, rules that does not make sense and bad costumer service)
