TGIF vs Chilli's
This review is about Chilli's as it is about TGIF as I have visited both a few times.
Recently, I called Chilli's Bangsar for a reservation for 15-20 people and they said that they have a "no reservations" policy and all persons have to be present in order for booking to be taken at the time of arrival. Business must be good for them that they can afford to turn away potential patrons.
Overall, Chilli's have good food (based on past visits) but perhaps not for organising large get-togethers where one wants the restaurant to simplify logistics of organising rather than making it more difficult.
Instead, I called up TGIF and they were happy to take reservations for 20 people (after consultation with the manager), and even offered to sit everyone in one table! Obviously I was trilled, as between TGIF and Chilli's, food quality is not that different. Needless to say, I went with TGIF and am happy.
Between the two, food quality is similar, but I found the staff at TGIF to be so much more accomodating to our requests, especially when some flexibility is required. TGIF is great for groups and has a pleasant ambiance. And judging from the staff friendliness, it would be my preferred venue over Chilli's.
