TGI Friday's is about the same anywhere in the world. Cheerful and fun with a team of brightly dressed staff wearing badges and other accessories. The place looks colourful, with an assorted range of decor everywhere on walls to each nook and corner. Its trademark red and white tablecloths add to the ambience. The recommended buffalo wings are tender and tangy. Another favourite is the spicy Cajun chicken pasta. Not to be missed as well are the Jack Daniel's grilled salmon, the BBQ beef ribs and the all-time favourite, mud pie. There is your usual smattering of soft drinks and cocktails.
we were caught offguard when we step into TGIF for our usual monthly dinner outing. So what if it was feb 14? To us it is just another day. They shoved us a new menu where there was extremely limited choices. What's more was the usual set meal that cost RM29.90 was being quoted at RM75. As though that was not enough, the usual of 6 pieces of the entree serving was reduced to 4 pieces.
I wanted steak but was forced to eat lamb chop which was poorly cooked. We have vowed not to enter that outlet anymore.
The staff manning this outlet is the worst I ever met. They don't converse well in English yet they are the front liners in TGIF. I make a reservations for a birthday party on 23 Feb 08 for 8pax couple of days in advance considering it is a Saturday. Imagine when I got there, they have released my reservation without even calling the costomer concerned. The staff are rude and ill-mannered. I recommend would-be customers to eat somewhere else if possible.I have even made a written complaint but to date, they don't even bothered to reply!
I love the buffalo chicken wings, lamb chop n mud pie. it's heavenly. the environment happening and is also a great place for get-together with friends and family. I really enjoyed tgi. will never fail to go there again.
This review is about Chilli's as it is about TGIF as I have visited both a few times.
Recently, I called Chilli's Bangsar for a reservation for 15-20 people and they said that they have a "no reservations" policy and all persons have to be present in order for booking to be taken at the time of arrival. Business must be good for them that they can afford to turn away potential patrons.
Overall, Chilli's have good food (based on past visits) but perhaps not for organising large get-togethers where one wants the restaurant to simplify logistics of organising rather than making it more difficult.
Instead, I called up TGIF and they were happy to take reservations for 20 people (after consultation with the manager), and even offered to sit everyone in one table! Obviously I was trilled, as between TGIF and Chilli's, food quality is not that different. Needless to say, I went with TGIF and am happy.
Between the two, food quality is similar, but I found the staff at TGIF to be so much more accomodating to our requests, especially when some flexibility is required. TGIF is great for groups and has a pleasant ambiance. And judging from the staff friendliness, it would be my preferred venue over Chilli's.
i like the place coz it give me the feeling of romantic. when i and my lover boyfriend went for steak,so nice the place ... not so bright not so dark, it's very romantic when both of waiting for our meal and we discuss about the environment ...
the main course is quite good ...
My wife and I were staying at the Crown Plaza Hotel and decided to go to this Korean BBQ Place we had seen on our way in, but never made it there as we came upon the TGIF right next door.
I had been a few times in the States and liked the food so we went in.
It was a Friday night and the place was crowded, but we were seated right away as there are lots of tables.
Fast music in the background and all the noise from conversations makes this place not so great fo couples, but a group would have alot of fun here.
The food was excellent, I had the Rib Eye Steak and my wife had Lamb Chops, capped off with a big Ice Cream Sunday.
I was overall pleased with the experience and would recommend it to anyone missing food from the states.
