Rama V, Kuala Lumpur

I would agree with most that RAMA V's atmosphere and ambiance is very welcoming and one of the better places to eat at... The food used to live up to your expectation years ago, now and just recently, the restuarant seemed to scale down on the portions quite a bit now. The taste of the food still has not lost its zeal. The service, back then, was slow and generally the orders tend to get mixed up or incorrect - - but you end up eating it anyway instead of waiting longer. I believe that they are taking steps to improve on their service. In a nutshell, I go back every now and then to eat that delightful 'mouth watering and tasty dish - Chicken in Green Curry! i did my birthday bash here... they have this gorgeous chalet to rent for occassions...inside... it is BEAUTIFUL!!! what i like most was the sweet surprise as entering the place... from outside it's just a simple bangalow... but as you enter u'll see the gorgeous decor and relaxing fine dining ambience settings inside.. it's a 5star restaurant for sure... talk about their food... oh gosh make me hungry now... their thai food are the BEST! forget your mamak or thai stall for a while... this is the real deal of thai food.. everything from appetisers up to the dessert... DELIcIOUS!! the price... if you up to some special occasion... dont mind to pay a little bit extra than your usual thai stall treats.. it's WORTH IT! trust me..

This is an awesome hide out. To feel like you are from another world. Really good food. Portions are just right. The food is RICH. Very romantic. A MUST GO....

The ambience depicts a romantic and cozy setting for a good dinner out. A pretty nice set-up with such a secluded and strategic location in KL. Food is good with the right taste of real Thai cuisine. Unless you are real Thai food freak, you can tell the difference. But the basic is there. Value might not commensurate with the portion and taste but sure it right for the ambiance. Service is average or not commensurate with the price you pay but adequate attention is received. Just enough for a good romantic dinner without regular interference.

Rama V serves great Thai food. I am very fond of Thai food and eat it regularly. In my opinion Rama V delivers. The location is a little run down but somehow it adds to the atmosphere. By KL standards it is not cheap but for a western pocketbook it is very reasonably priced. Go, you will not be disappointed if you enjoy good food.

I love the ambiance of the restaurant and the food esp. the asparagus belacan! I think it's a great place to eat. It offers privacy and exclusiveness. Unlike those restaurants that are in the malls. It's a pet peeve of mine - when people glare into the glass windows to look at what you're eating. The only thing that was bad was it's service. I'm sure they offered excellent service to many. But I guess since I'm a teenager they didn't really take me seriously.

I love the ambience and the fact that it is not overcrowded. Over the years I have noticed that the place is slowly crumbling due to poor maintainance. Especially the bathroom. The food is as always excellent. The place is a gem and I sincerely more people will discover it.

Ate there twice...taste is okay. Very interesting atmosphere but usually pretty empty. Bit pricey for the portions/taste. Better Thai places around...even KLCC 4th floor Rain Nudle is better.
