Experience the essence of traditional Korean dining, with its delicate service and sincere hospitality. Kayarang offers the perfect first-meal-in-Korea for foreign guests. Opened in 1982, the restaurant is renowned for its cuisine, and it also presents Korean folk songs and dances. Try Jungsik (rice with various side dishes) among others. The decor features both modern and traditional elements, and the atmosphere is friendly and welcoming. This is an ideal meeting place both for casual gatherings of family and friends, and also for more formal business meetings.
The service was excellent, but the food was not very good. There were several courses and much of the food served was mediocre at best. Even the banchan (side dishes) were worse than ones we had at a restaurant where two could eat well for W10,000. We had three people and the cost was W32,000 per person. Very disappointing, given the rave reviews of others. I'm just thankful we didn't order the more expensive meal which was W50,000 per person. We spent $120 US for an bad meal. This was supposed to be Royal Court Cuisine, in the future we'll pass on this place.
I highly recommend this restaurant for a relaxed, traditional full dining pleasure. I suggest a private tatami mat room, and the course we had was absolutely endless and each dish was served with a smile and an explanation of not only the dish but a little history on it as well.
