Samwon Garden

Description

This first-class restaurant, is the largest one in Korea, serving up to 1,200 people at a time. It has hosted distinguished guests from different countries because of the excellent food and distinctive Korean character. The decor is reminiscent of an old Korean house. All around the walls there are Korean antiques and everyday articles, while the wooden tables and chairs are made to look like traditional style furniture. Special recommendations include Bulgogi (braised meat with traditional sauce and various seasonal vegetables), Kalbi (roasted ribs) and Naengmyun (cold noodles).

We can't wait to go back
By Lucci.Silly gurl, 3/15/07
First, the food is second to none. The original owners have operated this place (and a new branch restaurant) for over 25 years and really know how to prepare and serve delicious, traditional Korean food in a stunning atmosphere replete with glass enclosed pine trees and rock waterfalls spanning several stories. The outside courtyard is a delightful place to sit in springtime or autumn as the leaves are changing. The moment you enter the spacious grounds, you'll be enticed by the aroma of Korean barbeque and enchanted by the welcoming hostesses in traditional costumes as they bow to greet you in unison. In addition, unlike most restaurants, this one has a large underground parking garage so you don't have to spend your time searching for parking. The restaurant also has a new annex called "Pure" featuring top quality sushi and sashimi served in a warm, modern setting sure to please the adventurous palate. If you want to treat your family and friends or business associates to a memorable experience, you'll be glad you visited Sam Won Garden.

Safe choice
By jason, 12/14/06
The embiance is definitely quite nice and the food is good, but as others have stated the portions could be bigger and it's definitely on the pricier side. I've been to better places, but for someone looking for a taste of Korean traditional BBQ's it's a safe pick.

Tourist Spot

If you want something safe, and don't know anything else in the area, then dine here. I think the food's average, but not worth the price.

Beautiful Garden Area
By Jeff, 1/26/06
I really liked this place. We had the kalbi ribs for $25,000. We had many many side dishes and a soup each. A cold or hot soup was available, go with hot. There weren't alot of kibs though but they were good. It's really a lovely place to take a guest or business partner. Outside there are waterfalls and private padogas to sit under.

Not all that it was cracked up to be
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 7/20/05
My husband and I had heard about this place for a long time. Upon arrival, the valle parking, the open clean space and the lightning fast service was definately impressive. However the food was not great. If we are going to pay that much money, the food had better be good. The banchan really wasn't all that. The kalbi came in very VERY small portions and we had better kalbi at little mom and pop joints in back alleys. I have warned all my friends here in Seoul not to waste their money.

The Best...................
By RobB, 7/8/05
If you go to Korea you have to go to Samwon Garden. Me and my wife went to Korea last year for our honeymoon and a friend that lives there took us. It was the best Korean food i ever had. We are going back to Korea in a few months and the first thing we do is go to Samwon Garden. By the way if you like golf, Korean's famous golfer Grace Park, well her famly owns it. Though the price isn't cheap, it is well worth it. Its like playing Pebble Beach, The Best...........
