With an esteemed culinary history dating back to the fourth century, this posh restaurant offers a dining experience that few others can match. Located off of the main lobby in the Hotel New Otani, its opulent decor mirrors its opulent menu. The goose foie gras (JPY9,200) enjoys do-not-miss status as an appetizer, while the roast duckling (JPY19,200 for two) stands as the kitchen's signature entree. The wine list, as would be expected from a French restaurant, rates superb and offers wine by the glass and the bottle.
The meal was outstanding and the service even better than expected. The duck, #185754, was by far the best meal I had in Tokyo. And the after dinner coffee service in the bar with the specialty chocolates was a treat not to be missed. If you enjoy a fine meals with an outstanding selections of wines, this is the place to go in Tokyo.
The concierge had told us: "It is not really like the Tour d'Argent in Paris" We know the Tour d'Argent in Paris and I must say that the experience is as impressive. The decorum is different, not better just more opulent. But you can feel that the prestige, quality and essence of La Tour d'Argent Paris is well preserved. I would recommend it as a must-do in Tokyo
